At a time when cinema halls are flooded with comedy centric movies, Chandigarh-based director, Gaurav Sharma, plans to direct a Punjabi film — Inquilab 2012 — which focuses on bringing about a revolution against drugs (mainly alcohol). At Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27, on Sunday, the director — along with producer-actor Marshal and negative lead of the movie, Jazzy Lahoria — announced his movie, the shooting for which will commence on October 20.
Gaurav, who has earlier been the assistant director for serials such as Tumhari Disha on Zee TV, Sathi Re on Sahara One and Kumkum and Bhabhi on Star Plus, directed the Punjabi movie, Sapolay, which is yet to be released. “The film reveals the nexus of white collar elites, who are putting the present generation of Punjab on stake for their personal greed. Though the movie is a thorough masala commercial film, it has a strong message to deliver,” said Gaurav.
Marshal, who is also producing the movie, plays the role of the protagonist, while the role is being played by Color’s Ring Ka King fame Jazzy Lahoria. Female actor Manreet Kaur, who is also a part of upcoming movies such as Yamley Jatt Yamley, Tere Bin Dil Nahi Ladgda, Jatt Airways and Lucky Di Unlucky Story, is also a part of this movie.
She was also seen in the Hollywood movie, West is West, in 2010. Inquilab 2012 will be shot in Chandigarh, Landran, Bassi Pathana and Kharar. The lyrics of the film have been written by Raj Kakra and Marshal, and a few songs of the film are by Nachattar Gill.
