Road mishap claims life of one, 17 injured

In yet another incident, one person was killed and 17 others injured when the Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus, which was on its way from Bathoh to Bilaspur area rolled down 100 feet, near Badehtar village of Malokhar area on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Bhandari Ram (80), a resident of Suinsurahad area. Meanwhile, one of the injured, Madu Ram of Bhojpur in Sunder Nagar area, has been referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla.

The rest of 16 injured have been admitted to a regional hospital here.

Deputy commissioner Ajay Sharma said the district administration had extended immediate help of Rs 10,000 to kin of the deceased and Madu Ram, whereas the injured were given help of Rs 5,000.

State planning development and 20 point program chairman Ram Lal Thakur and Sharma took stock of the injured and directed the hospital authorities to extend all possible help, including free medicines.
