The daughter of a 63-year-old man, who was robbed of Rs 9.8 lakh on gunpoint, has created a page on social networking website Facebook seeking help to solve the case.
The victim, Raj Kumar, resident of Sector 17, and owner of a petrol pump in Sector 20, was robbed on March 30. He had sustained a bullet injury on his right hand in the attack.
His daughter, Malika Garg, said she had created a page on Facebook ‘Justice For My Father’ urging people to share information about the incident, and upload photographs and videos.
Her appeal on the page read: “It’s a bitter reality that the humanity is dying, nobody is ready to help......... nobody is coming to speak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all know there were at least 50-100 people who have witnessed this but they choose to stay quiet. We just don’t understand that it could be any of us or our loved ones next (sic).”
Malika assured that she would ensure those sharing any information regarding the incident were not harassed by the police. She has also circulated messages on WhatsApp requesting city residents to share information.
The family is also planning to announce a reward for informers. To gather clues, the family members has been also scanning the footage of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed near the robbery spot.
So far, the police have failed to make any headway in the case. On Wednesday, they prepared two sketches of the accused based on the description of the accused given by the victim.
As per the police record, six cases of robbery have been registered this year, of which only three have been solved. One case of dacoity was also registered but cops are yet to solve it.
