Returning officer Dalbir Singh has issued a show-cause notice to Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Munish Grover after receiving a complaint that he allegedly manipulated his age in the affidavit submitted to Election Commission of India.

Complainant advocate NK Panghal said Grover had shown his age 52 in the 2009 assembly poll, when he contested from Rohtak assembly constituency. However, in the affidavit submitted to the EC for October-15 assembly polls, Grover has allegedly wrongly shown 60 years as his age, which was false.

Talking to HT, subdivisional magistrate-cum-returning officer Dalbir Singh said BJP nominee Munish Grover has been given 24 hours to explain his stand over the row. He said after listening to the reply of Grover on Wednesday, the case would be brought into the notice of EC for further action.

Grover could not be contacted on his mobile despite repeated attempts.
