Rotational irrigation plan for rabi season

The Punjab irrigation department has announced a rotational programme for irrigation through canal water for the rabi season from March 29 to April 5. Channels of the Sirhind canal system would run on priority from the Bathinda branch, Bist Doab, Sidhwan branch, Patiala feeder and the Abohar branch.

The Punjab irrigation department has announced a rotational programme for irrigation through canal water for the rabi season from March 29 to April 5. Channels of the Sirhind canal system would run on priority from the Bathinda branch, Bist Doab, Sidhwan branch, Patiala feeder and the Abohar branch.

A spokesman for the department said direct distributaries of the Bhakra main line in Group A (channels of first preference) would run 'to their indent' and the balance water supply available would be utilised in the Ghaggar branch and its off-taking channels Ghaggar branch and Patiala minor in Group B, respectively.

The spokesman said all direct distributaries of the Sirhind feeder in Group A (first preference) would run 'to their indent' and the balance water supply available would be utilised in the Abohar branch off-taking from the feeder and its distributaries and minors in Group B.

Channels off-taking from the upper Bari Doab canal (Lahore branch) with its distributaries would run 'to their indent' and the balance water supply available would be utilised in the main branch lower, Kasur branch lower, Sabraon branch with their distributaries, respectively.
