Republican Party of India (A) president Ramdas Athawale on Saturday said his party would soon discuss an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) in the ensuing assembly polls in Haryana.

Athawale, who is currently Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra, told mediapersons that while the talks with the BJP and its ally HJC were on for a tie-up on five seats, the RPI (A) had supported the BJP in the recently-held Lok Sabha elections.

The RPI (A) president said in case of no alliance with the BJP or HJC, his party would contest some seats on its own or support like-minded parties. Athawale, who was in city, bemoaned atrocities on Dalits in Haryana and said he would soon call on union home minister Rajnath Singh and urge him to set up a separate commission to check such incidents.
