The panchayat minister said the state government was working towards the development of villages. He added that maps of all villages had been uploaded on the Internet and even people living abroad could see the ongoing developmental work in villages.

Rakhra also said, "The development will be thoroughly planned. Each house will be numbered and a dharamshala will be set up in every village. Common marriage palaces will also be built to reduce people's expenditure during weddings."

Chief parliament secretary NK Sharma, who was also present on the occasion, said the Punjab deputy chief minister would inaugurate the International Hockey Stadium worth Rs 50 crore in SAS Nagar on September 27.
