All flights from the airport here will remain suspended for two days, November 24 and 25, as the air force station will be renovating the lone, shared runway.
Worse, trains from the city, especially those to Delhi, are already full. The three Shatabdi trains have a waiting list of over 100 in current booking.
Appallingly, airport director HS Toor said he was still to receive "formal information" about the closure: "We will be able to inform the public only after that."
Airlines, however, are not issuing tickets for the two days. But the booking websites have not mentioned any reason either.
In such a scenario, the fear is that taxi drivers might hike their fares for travelling to and from Delhi. The fare as of now for a Toyota Innova or other such taxis is Rs 6,500-7,000 for a return trip. For a smaller car like Tata Indica, it is about Rs 4,500.
