Rupinder, Kaushik win titles in golf c’ship

Punjab SSP Rupinder Singh pipped Rajeev Moudgill , a chief engineer with Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA), t o win t he serving officers category of t he 8th North Zone Civil Services Golf Tournament that was played at the Chandigarh Golf Club, Sector 6, on Saturday.

Although both the players finished with the identical scores of three-over, Rupinder managed to walk away with the top honour on the basis of a better back-nine score.

In the retired officers category, BB Kaushik of Ha rya nagot the better of Jaswant Singh Kharia by four strokes to grab the title.

In the nearest-to-pin contest, ex-Haryana chief secretary PK Chaduhery was crowned winner after his stroke stopped eight feet and eight inches away from the 14th hole. The president of Chandigarh Golf Association, PS Pruthi, gave away the prizes to the players.

During the tour nament, a 12-member North zone team, including two reserves, was also selected. The team will participate in the All-India Civil Services Golf Championship.

The team is: Rupinder Singh, Rajeev Moudgill, Aaditya Gupta, Bhupinder Singh, YR Saini, Jagdev Singh Mahi, SK Sharma, Kulwaran Singh, B Chandra Shekhar, KK Sindhu, Varinder Kumar and RC Mishra.
