Rupnagar: Bus conductor killed, seven hurt in mishap

A bus conductor was killed while seven passengers were injured in a road mishap on the national highway number 205 near Ghanauli village, about 10 km here, on Wednesday morning.

According to information, the accident took place around 5am when a Haryana Roadways Delhi depot bus (HR 55T-6501) going towards Delhi from Manali (HP) hit a still truck (HR 58A-3606) on the national highway number 205 from behind. The bus conductor sitting on the front seat died on the spot, while seven others sustained injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Mukesh Kumar of Rohtak district in Haryana. The six persons were rushed to the civil hospital, Rupnagar, while one of the critically injured was referred to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

The truck had been parked on the road owing to some mechanical fault. Meanwhile, a case under section 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304-A (causing death by negligence), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the bus driver.
