Arrested by the Panipat police for allegedly conspiring to trap an affluent landlord in a false case of rape to extort money, the medical report on Tuesday confirmed that two Russian women were not sexually assaulted.

On Monday night, the Panipat police had escorted the rape "victims" for their medical examination at Karnal civil hospital. Panipat superintendent of police KK Rao said on Tuesday that the reports ruled out sexual assault on both the foreign nationals. He clarified that the district police had approached the court to allow them to conduct tests outside Panipat.

On Saturday, the police had arrested a "politically-influential" inspector of the state vigilance bureau, Jaswant Bangar, for masterminding a conspiracy to trap a young and rich businessman from Karnal in a false rape case to extort money.

Police claimed that as per the conspiracy, Karnal resident Vinod Kumar befriended Kanav Deep Singh, who owns several shops on the railway road in Karnal, and introduced Kanav to Irina and Noora as his Russian business partners.

On June 18, Noora invited Kanav to a party at Skylark hotel in Panipat. He and Vinod reached there at around 9.30 pm. Kanav alleged that he was lured by Noora to bed but sensing trouble, he left the hotel soon. However, the next day, Vinod told Kanav that the two women had filed a police complaint that he (Kanav) raped them in the hotel.
