The Haryana unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has expressed gratitude to chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for giving Sikhs the right to manage the shrines of the state by enacting a separate Haryana Sikh Gurdwaras Management Act, 2014.

Extending full support to Hooda, SAD (Amritsar) state president Ajit Singh Kahlon also appreciated in a letter addressed to Hooda, various decisions taken by the state government for the welfare of farmers and the common man.

He urged Hooda that their organisation should also be considered as representative of the Sikh community of Haryana and therefore be given membership of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC).

He also said there were about 18 lakh Sikh voters in Haryana (14%) of the total voters and hence be given adequate representation in the Haryana assembly.
