The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has urged the Election Commission (EC) to conduct an inquiry into the registration of 'bogus' votes in the Rajouri Garden assembly constituency of Delhi.
In a written complaint, SAD secretary and spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema alleged that 266 bogus votes were registered at Khayala village, the native place of Congress candidate Dhanwanti Chandila. He alleged that in two small plots bearing house numbers WZ 101 and WZ 102, 93 and 142 bogus votes had been registered respectively and 42 votes had been registered in the same houses in the supplementary voter list issued by the returning officer.
He informed the EC that a similar complaint of registration of bogus votes was filled by the SAD in November 2008 for the same houses.
The SAD demanded immediate deletion of all bogus votes, punishment to the guilty officials and strict action against the Congress candidate.
