Akali Dal (Badal) MP Prem Singh Chandumajra on Monday said the party was forced to campaign against the Congress in Haryana elections as it had constantly been creating "mischief" in Punjab.
Talking to mediapersons after a public meeting in support of INLD candidate from Kaithal Kailash Bhagat here, he said his party was only trying to settle scores with the Congress by campaigning against it in this state.
The Congress had all along ruled the country by dividing it on the basis of caste. Now that its game had been exposed, it was gradually being wiped out from the country, he said.
Except for a few states, people had shown the door to the party, he added. "The people of Haryana too should reject this party and vote for the INLD."
Chandumajra, who is also the general secretary and spokesman of the Akali Dal, claimed that INLD was going to win over 60 seats in the forthcoming poll.
He urged the people to rise above caste differences ensure the INLD's victory.
He said that though Punjab had always wanted to maintain cordial relations with Haryana, the Congress government in the latter state prevented it. However, he added, if the INLD came to power in Haryana, a new chapter would begin in the ties between the two states.
