In a severe jolt to Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), outfit's General Secretary Sampat Singh announced his decision to quit the party on Tuesday.
"The situation has become such that it will not be wise for me to remain in the party and even the party leadership feels that I am no more required here," Sampat Singh, a former Haryana Finance Minister, who remained associated with the INLD for 32 long years since the time of party supremo and former deputy Chief Minister Devi Lal, told a press conference in Chandigarh.
"The INLD has become a group of people who are ignoring the policies and programmes of Devi Lal," Singh, who is also party's national spokesman said.
"The INLD is now in complete disarry as there is neither those who follow the policies of Devi Lal nor his name exists any more...the leadership of the party does not allow anyone else to be promoted in the party expected a few from within a family," he said taking a dig at INLD chief Om Parkash Chautala and his two sons.
"I was with Devi Lal by conviction, but with Om Parkash Chautala by compulsion," he said.
