Samriti Irani led 200 BJP activists court arrest in Jammu

About 200 activists and leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party led by member parliament and National Mahila Morcha president Samriti Irani today court arrested in this winter capital of the state as part of BJP's nationwide 'Jail Bharo Andolan' against inflation and corruption.

Hundreds of BJP activists led by Irani this morning assembled at Dogra Chowk.

Raising slogans against Congress, the BJP leaders and supporters carrying placards and party flags tried to march towards river Tawi bridge to disrupt the traffic but heavy deployment of police restricted their movement.

Irani and other BJP leaders comprising state president Shamsher Singh Manhas, MLAs Ashok Khajuria, Sukhnandan Choudhary, chief spokesperson Jitender Singh, state mahila wing president Sushma Choudhary and district leaders were court arrested and shifted to the district police line.

Earlier addressing the gathering Irani condemned UPA government in the Centre for their wrong policies.

She said the central government has failed to control inflation and also termed Dr Manmohan Singh as 'Proxy Prime Minister' alleging that he is not a decision maker.

She also alleged that scams laden Congress party has always 'backstabbed' the people of the country and failed to meet their aspirations.
