The sudden decision of the People's Party of Punjab (PPP) chief, Manpreet Badal of joining hands with the Congress for the Bathinda Lok Sabha seat has caused cracks in his party even as the Sanjha Morcha has crumbled, with the CPM feeling disillusioned over the development.

Both the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist party of India-Marxist (CPM) on Friday expressed their disillusionment over the PPP chief's decision of accepting the Congress offer for Bathinda with the CPM even announcing that it would to go it alone in case of such an eventuality.

The CPM would contest 4 seats - Ludhiana, Sangrur, Jalandhar and Anandpur Sahib, while the CPI would field its candidates from Ferozepur, Faridkot and Amritsar seats as the Left parties reached a consensus against Manpreet Badal's move.
