Paramjit Singh Sarna, former president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi), on Thursday condemned Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for supporting the appointment of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as the head of the BJP's campaign committee for the Lok Sabha elections. Sarna called it (Badal's stand) unfortunate for the minorities and a black day for Sikhs.
Sarna said Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Badal, by supporting Modi, had proved that they were not serious about the protection of rights of Sikhs. Sarna said the Sikhs in Delhi would oppose Modi's appointment in the parliamentary as well as Delhi assembly elections.
Sarna said the BJP's only agenda was to establish Hindutva by eliminating the minorities.
He said the Sikh Gurus had given the message of secularism and respect for all religions and faiths. "But the Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal, which is representing Sikhs in Punjab, is violating Sikh tradition and ideology by supporting Modi, who is an enemy of all religions other than Hinduism," Sarna added.
