The sarpanch of Kheri Sarf Ali village, near Assandh, has been booked for allegedly exploiting a widow sexually and forcing her to indulge in obscene acts for more than a year.

Following a complaint by the 40-year-old woman on Friday, the police conducted her medical examination at the civil hospital on Friday night and booked 60-year-old Joginder Singh.

The accused knew the victim and both hailed from Kheri Sarf Ali village.

Assandh station house officer (SHO) Tek Ram said the victim had also alleged that Joginder had taken her nude photographs.

The victim alleged that on the pretext of marrying her, the sarpanch had kept her at a house in Ekta Vihar, Karnal, and later took her to the native village and exploited her sexually.

She also alleged that Joginder had forced unnatural sex on her and threatened to kill if she reported the matter to anyone.

The SHO said the matter was being investigated. The accused was not arrested till filing of this report.
