In an embarrassment to the SAS Nagar police, one of its woman constable has levelled allegations of rape against a colleague constable Sandeep, who was posted with her at the Nayagaon police station. However, even after a fortnight of complaint to higher-ups, the police is yet to register an FIR. Morover, the cops are allegedly trying to strike a compromise between the two.
She had submitted a complaint to the SSP office on March 20. The woman is demanding an FIR in the case as she alleges that she was raped on the pretext of marriage. "Even after being compelled by seniors, if Sandeep agrees to marry me, I am not willing to do the same. All I want is a case registered against him as she feels used," she added.
The woman alleged that she was in a live-in relationship with the constable for six months, but recently Sandeep told her that he would not marry her. Following which, she made several requests to him and also informed her family.
However when Sandeep did not agree, she complained at the Nayagaon police station, but to no avail. Following which, she met SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who marked an inquiry to SP (city) Ashish Kapoor in this regard.
The woman constable alleged that she had given all the proofs to the police about her relationship with Sandeep, but they are yet to take any action, except for the transfer of Sandeep to anothet police station. Sandeep has now been posted at the Kurali police station.
Speaking to HT, the woman constable said, "I have lost everything to him and he is adamant that he doesn't want to marry me. He has been insisting upon me taking the complaint back and he is being counselled to strike a compromise, but how will that help. I have faith in our police set up and I know that required action will be taken by my seniors."
She has also reportedly provided the police with evidence on her relationship with Sandeep and has given WhatsApp record of messages being exchanged between both of them and other evidence of places where they had stayed together.Meanwhile, refuting all allegations, Sandeep said, "I know her only as a colleague and nothing more than that.
I don't know why she is harassing me? The entire matter is in the knowledge of the seniors who are looking into the matter."
The police said they were investigating the case and once the inquiry was complete, they shall take required action. SP (city) Ashish Kapoor said, "The matter is being probed into and required action will be taken soon."
