SAS Nagar liquor vends net Rs 117 crore

The excise and taxation department has earned Rs 117.7 crore by auctioning the liquor vends on Saturday.

The amount which is earned by the department this year is Rs 26 crore more than the last year. The department has termed the auction as a huge success.

The auction for 365 liquor vends was held at Paradise Green Farms in Kharar on Saturday. The bidders showed great interest in the auction as the department has earned 37.41 crore was earned from the applications fees only.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu, who was present at the auction as an observer, said the auction was a big success as the department has earned Rs 117.70 crore from it and the amount is more than Rs 26.47 more than the last auction.

He added that out of total 365 liquor vends, 230 are of country made wine, while 135 were of English wine.

As per the DC, the liquor vends were divided into 21 gropus, including 12 groups in urban areas and nine in rural areas of the district.

The DC said total 10,589 applications had been received for the auction and the department had collected Rs 37, 000 crore as fees.

Allotment fetches Rs103-core in Rupnagar

The excise and taxation department has earned Rs 103-crore revenue through the allotment of liquor vends in Rupnagar this year.

According to Rupnagar deputy commissioner Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal, the allotment of liquor vends for 175 vends of country made liquor and 88 vends Indian made foreign liquor was done through draw of lot on Saturday.

He said the excise and taxation department has earned Rs 90.57 crore as licence fee which was 8% more than last year’s licencee fee of Rs 72.24 crore.

Aggarwal said department had also earned Rs 12.97-crore revenue as application fee from 3,338 applicants.
