In a complaint to Mandi superintendent of police (SP) Mohit Chawla on June 25, the people's campaign for socio-economic equity in Himalayas (PCSEEH) convener Balak Ram, has brought the alleged discrimination while serving the food by Murah government primary school.

The PCSEEH convener said the movement had submitted reports to state government and NHRC, New Delhi, on a few government schools of Seraj segment in Mandi and Kangra districts where school authorities served mid-day meals to scheduled castes and scheduled tribe students separately from upper castes students.

“The school authorities give food to Dalit students after serving upper caste students. Moreover, Dalit students are made to sit in separate rows. It is discrimination and violation of human rights,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mandi SP confirmed the registration of an FIR and said that a deputy superintendent rank police officer had been appointed to investigate the matter.
