Scooterist killed after being hit by car

A scooterist was killed in a road accident near Madanpur village in Panchkula on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Hariram Giri, who works in a hotel in Madanpur, was going towards Panchkula when a car coming from the opposite direction hit his scooter and knocked him down.

The driver of the Suzuki Alto hatchback, who has yet to be identified, brought Giri to the General Hospital in Sector 6 where the latter was declared dead on arrival.

However, the driver soon fled from the hospital leaving his car behind. The police later impounded the car.

“We’ve filed a case of rash driving and causing death by negligence against the unidentified car driver and have launched a search for him. We’re also scanning footage from the CCTVs installed at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s parents have been informed about the accident,” said Chandimandir police station house officer inspector Arvind Kumar.

Mason found dead

The police found a body of a middle-aged man who was later identified as Ram Sheesh, a resident of Ashiana flats in Sector 26. His body was kept in General Hospital, Sector 6 mortuary for a postmortem after which the police hope to ascertain the cause of his death. Sheesh, who worked as a mason was a widower and is survived by two children.
