A 32-year-old man died in a hit and run accident in the Industrial Area on Sunday. The victim, who was identified as Mohinder Singh, a resident of Manimajra who owned a catering business, was returning home on his scooter after winding up work at a function. A truck hit the deceased’s scooter from the rear near the train station at about 7 pm, knocking him down and seriously injuring him.

In the meanwhile the truck driver fled from the scene without anyone noting down the vehicle’s registration number.

Another scooterist who had a close shave with the truck and who witnessed the accident told the police the truck driver was driving rashly. After the cops arrived at the scene the victim was taken to the Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32 where he was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the police filed a case against the unidentified truck driver for causing death due to rash and negligent driving and are conducting investigations into the incident.
