Section 144 imposed outside office of Punjab director health services

The UT administration has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in and around 200 metres radius of the office of Punjab director health services, Sector 34, Chandigarh, anticipating protest by the Para Medical and Health Workers' Union Punjab to register their protest for their long-pending demands.

The UT administration has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in and around 200 metres radius of the office of Punjab director health services, Sector 34, Chandigarh, anticipating protest by the Para Medical and Health Workers' Union Punjab to register their protest for their long-pending demands.

The orders, which will be in force on August 23, were passed by UT deputy commissioner Mohammed Shayin keeping in view that protest or any agitation could cause obstruction, annoyance or injury to persons lawfully employed, disturb public peace and tranquility and cause riots and affrays .

The above order will not apply to the police, paramilitary or military persons or any other government servant on official duties, the processions or meetings for which prior permission in writing of the district magistrate/sub-divisional magistrate, Chandigarh, is obtained and the customary and ritualistic procession in connection with weddings and funerals. The order will come into force with effect from zero hour on August 23.
