Arnav Aggarwal from Chandigarh topped the All India Institute for Medical Sciences entrance exam on Monday.

“It is a great day for me because I have secured what I had aimed for, but that does not mean everything ends now. Now I have been given the opportunity to surge ahead,” Arnav, the son of chartered accountant Vineet Aggarwal, said.

Arnav had recently gone to Mumbai to take part in the Biology Olympiad. “All I am aiming right now is to do my best in the college I get into. Having got into AIIMS is a dream come true,” he said.

Arnav said he opted for self study but was regular with his assignments which helped him achieve his goal.

His father said he was proud of Arnav and would support him in whichever way required.

Nishant Aggarwal from Patiala, who took coaching classes from Chandigarh, secured the all-India sixth rank.

He had also taken part in the Biology Olympiad camp. His father, Dr Hari Om
Aggarwal, said, “Nishant was intelligent though not studious. He is hard working and sincere.”
