Selja sends 42 suggestions for Congress manifesto

Espousing job quota and other benefits for poor, educational institutions and industrial townships for different areas, Congress Rajya Sabha member Kumari Selja has given 42 suggestions to be included in the party manifesto for the ensuing assembly elections in Haryana.

Selja, a two-time union minister, in a letter to Ram Prakash, chairman, manifesto committee, Haryana Congress, has suggested that quota in jobs for the poor cutting across caste lines should be included in the manifesto.

She suggested that regularisation of services of computer teachers and guest teachers on contract basis in government schools should also be included in the manifesto.

Selja also sought in the manifesto a degree college and a skill development centre in each assembly constituency of Haryana, vocational institute in Mewat, funds for the modernisation of 'madrasas'.
Seeking an extension of 'lal dora' land in various villages should be included in the manifesto, she also espoused coaching centres in all government universities for helping students prepare for various central, state and banking services.

Providing SC, OBC and SBC reservation in jobs given under contract basis or outsourced to other agencies, loans at concessional rates to build houses for SCs, BCs and OBCs should also be included in it, she said.

For Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar districts, she suggested a university, a medical college in Panchkula, better connectivity and drinking water supply in the Morni hill area, excise duty relief to plywood industry in Yamunanagar and steel industry of Jagadhri, conversion of lease hold land in Ambala Cantt to free hold land, speedy construction of the Yamunanagar-Chandigarh rail link and a flood control plan for Ambala city and cantonment be included in the manifesto.
