Seven residents of Rawan village in Begowal tehsil of Kapurthala district were injured in a firing incident late Wednesday evening. Those injured in the alleged shooting by Daljit Singh 'Don' included Ajit Singh and his three sons, apart from three others.

Ajit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Balwinder Singh and Ranjit Singh were referred to Kapurthala civil hospital for treatment while the remaining injured were admitted to Begowal civil hospital.

"Daljit Singh alias Don along with 50-60 goons opened fire at our vehicle when we all were returning home. This has been done at the behest of certain Akali leaders," alleged Sukhwinder Singh.

Bholath's Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira said, "Congress workers are being victimised in such a cruel way and the government is doing nothing. It is a poor situation and we will strongly protest against it."
