"I believe what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t teaching us. We are formed by those little scraps of wisdom" said Umerto Eco, a famous Italian writer and he couldn’t be closer to the truth. Those little moments, spent with our dads over the years, have a huge impact on the kind of people we grow up to be. Fathers play such an important role in our lives, it’s as important to pamper them on their own special day.

So here we have a list of seven innovative gifting ideas for Father’s Day which are novel, modern and easy on the pocket all at the same time:

1. Sign him up for a relaxing head massage

Our fathers are always there for us, taking care of all the little details to make sure our lives run as smoothly and comfortably as possible. As amazing as that is, can you imagine the kind of stress they go through on an everyday basis? So help him de-stress for a change – arrange a nice, long head massage session for him at the salon he frequents. It’s such a sweet, simple gesture which your dad is bound to appreciate.

2. Personalized handkerchiefs

Handkerchiefs as a gift item doesn’t seem like a very innovative and novel idea, right? An innovative twist would be personalising the set with your father’s initials. That way each time he pulls one out of his pocket, he would be reminded of you and that is sure to bring a smile to his face. Use your mother’s help while sewing on the initials and transform a simple gift into something very special.

3. Tickets

Surely there must be some event happening around town that your dad really wants to attend – a cricket match, a play or a classical night? Find out what he wants (go to your mom for some valuable insight) and try to arrange tickets. It would be an evening dedicated to your father and what he enjoys. He is sure to love it!

4. Phone/Tab cover

As much as we’d want to gift our dads’ new phones and tabs, it might turn out to be a little heavy on the pocket. But we can do the next best thing: give him a new phone cover. These days the variety in this department is endless. You can go in for a sports based look if your dad is a sports enthusiast, an automobile-themed cover if he is into cars or it could simply say "World’s Best Dad". It’s almost as good as upgrading his phone, almost!

5. Framed photo

Most dads are solid, dependable family men who would go to great lengths to protect and care for their families. They cherish their families above everything else. Get a lovely family picture framed for their office table, their study or the living room. You could also hunt for some candid childhood pictures of his and get them blown up and framed. A simple gift like this would surely make him nostalgic and happy at the same time.

6. Upgrade his reading glasses

What is the difference between a normal dad and a cool dad? A pair of funky glasses! If your dad is still using an old and worn out pair of glasses which look as if they belong to the 16th century, arrange for an upgrade. Get a hold of his eye prescription and get a cool and sturdy pair made. A gift like this combines usability and thoughtfulness perfectly.

7. Wallet with a twist

All fathers appreciate well-made wallets and would always love a new pair. Find a pair which suits his taste and style. But that’s not all – for a novel twist add a little picture or a note in the photo pocket inside. It could be a picture of him when he was a baby, a lovely family photo or you could just put in a note that says "We love you, Dad!" His eyes are sure to light up every time he would open the wallet.
