Sewing machines and tool kits distributed to artisans

SS memorial educational society and Mahila Samaj Kalyan Samiti Chamkaur Sahib distributed 50 sewing machines and tool kits to the artisans of the Khamano block of Fatehgarh Sahib at a function held at Chamkaur Sahib in Rupnagar district on Friday.

The event was held in collaboration with the central government's development commission office.

Fifty trainees also received sewing machines at the function.

Rupnagar deputy commissioner Tanu Kashyap, the chief guest on the occasion, lauded the educational society and the samiti's activities, particularly those related to women empowerment. She also inaugurated a phulkari exhibition on the occasion.

Union textile ministry assistant director Gurpurb Singh Raina released a film, shot on the Society's premises, on Phulkari. Professor RC Dhand and director Raksha Dhand highlighted the activities undertaken by the society in the rural areas. Rupnagar additional deputy commissioner Amarjit Singh Shahi and Chamkaur Sahib sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) SS Gill were also present on the occasion.
