A local court on Monday framed charges against the wife and son of the main accused in a two-year-old sexual assault case for being an accomplice in hatching the controversy.
A 32-year-old Patiala resident had complaint that she was 'sexually abused' by Amarjit Singh Virk of NRI Sabha and three others at Industrial Area, Phase 7 in SAS Nagar in 2011. The case was filed in court in August 2012 and charges against Virk, the main accused, were framed in January 2013 in the case. The case dates back to July 13, 2011. The woman had alleged that she met Virk at PGIMER few months before the incident, who had 'assured' her that she would be sent to Canada and even charged Rs 1.5 lakh from her.
Later, he called the victim to Chandigarh to return the money, as he could not make the arrangements to send her abroad. She further alleged that the accused sexually assaulted her.
The victim went to Civil Hospital, Phase 7, in SAS Nagar for medical help following the incident. A case was then registered.
On Monday the court framed charges against Virk's wife Surinder Kaur and son Gurjit Singh for criminal intimidation and wrongful confinement.
