With a view to extending relief to pilgrims stranded due to the heavy rains on the route of the Char Dham yatra, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has sent relief in the form of rations, including flour, pulses, powder milk, sugar, tea leaves, rice, desi ghee, refined oil, onions, ginger, garlic and spices besides other necessities and dry rations to the devotees stranded at different places.

The SGPC has also dispatched a team comprising Harpreet Singh, associate manager, Golden Temple; Balwinder Singh, gurdwara inspector; and Harbhinder Singh, langar in-charge, besides other staff to Uttarakhand.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the team would set up camp at Joshimath and would prepare and distribute langar among the masses without any discrimination.

"The team would take stock of the situation prevailing there and would send its report to the SGPC. Thereafter, buses would be arranged for the stranded people as per the need and if the situation demanded, medical help and langar would be provided to the masses. Depending on the need, more such teams would be sent to these areas," he said.
