In yet another jolt to the Haryana government thanks to an independent legislator supporting it, the Dadri city police station house officer (SHO) on Thursday night recorded a daily diary report (DDR) against housing minister Satpal Sangwan for allegedly threatening and using foul language against him.

According to the DDR, a copy of which is with HT, the incident happened around 10pm on Thursday night at the Dadri civil hospital, around 30km from Bhiwani, where local legislator was visiting his former private secretary Ravinder Yadav and his cousins who had been attacked by some people with knives and guns. As SHO Satpal Singh reached the hospital, the minister took out his anger at him, threatening him and using foul language. Sangwan allegedly said he would get the SHO "brushed away".

When HT sought to ask the SHO why he stopped short of a formal first information report (FIR), he remained incommunicado. And superintendent of police (SP) Pankaj Nain, when contacted, denied the incident altogether.

Sangwan, who could not be contacted for comment, is one of the six independent MLAs who had tied up with the Congress to help Bhupinder Singh Hooda form the government again. Another of the six MLAs, Gopal Kanda, who had been rewarded with a ministerial berth like Sangwan, has been accused of abetting the suicide of his former employee and is currently behind bars.
