The members of Phase 3B2 market association are facing a tough time due to existence of the wine shop in the market.

Shopkeepers alleged that the existence of wine shop next to SCF 121-122, Phase 3B2 main market, had been creating nuisance for them as drunken youths create havoc and drama in the market.

They further alleged that the wine shop existed under a temporary shed and according to the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court, the Chandigarh administration had already removed liquor vends operating from temporary sheds along the roadside and the district administration should also do the same.

“Regular broken glass bottles, disposed food and other garbage lie just outside the vend, which raise a stink in the entire block,” said market association president JP Singh, adding that they have written a letter to deputy commissioner Tejinderpal Singh Sidhu in this regard.

He said since the wine shop lied in the main market, the chance of robbery, burglary and untoward incidents increased.

He said they had already given a representation to the chief administrator, additional chief administrator and estate officer, PUDA, as well as GMADA, however, no action had been taken so far.

The association urged the authorities to take necessary action and resolve the matter at the earliest.
