Hotel and restaurant owners held a meeting with the district administration on Tuesday and agreed to offer 25 to 50% discount to voters on voting day. First-time voters will be offered higher discount. The voters will have to show proof in the form of ink on their fingers before availing the discount.
The voting in Panchkula which is part of Ambala Lok Sabha constituency will take place on April 10. In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the district administration informed that Hotel Pallavi, Hotel Shiraj, KC Cross Road, Hops and Grains restaurant, Bengali V2C would be offering 30% discount from April 10 to 16, while first-time voters would get 50% discount on April 10, the day of voting.
La Fusion and Anupam Sweets in Sector 11 and Sector 9-based Sagar Ratna would offer a discount of 25% on April 10 and 11. Hotel KC in Sector 3, which is a five-star hotel, would offer 30% discount to all voters from April 10 to 16 on coffee, while the firsttime voters will get 50% discount.
Hotel Western Court would offer 30% discount from April 10 to 12 and thereafter from April 13 to 16, a discount of 25% would be offered on food items.
In the meeting, deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer SS Phulia suggested hotels and restaurants owners that they might put up banners informing people about the discount.
He added that to reach voting percentage of 75, the administration had also roped in LPG dealers, petrol pump dealers, resident welfare associations and depot holders for awareness on voting.
