Rains on Saturday drenched several parts of Punjab and Haryana dipping mercury by a couple of degrees.
The Union Territory of Chandigarh, which received 23.7 mm of rains, saw the maximum temperature settling at 33.3 degrees celsius, four degrees below normal, the weather office said.
Ambala and Karnal in Haryana received 17.8 mm and 17.2 mm of rains respectively as the maximum day temperature in the two cities hovered close to 36 degrees.
Amritsar and Ludhiana in Punjab recorded maximums of 36.6 and and 35.4 degrees respectively, the meteorological office said.
The high in Patiala touched 36.7 degrees, it said forecasting moderate to heavy rains at many places in Punjab and Haryana tomorrow.
