The integrated agromet advisory service unit of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CSSHAU), Hisar, on Thursday predicted the possibility of light to moderate showers from July 25 to 27.
A varsity spokesman said the maximum temperature was likely to be between 34° and 40° Celsius and the minimum temperature would be between 24° and 29° Celsius. The average wind speed could range from six to 16 kilometer per hour.
Keeping in view the possibility of rain, farm scientists of the university advised farmers to hoe cotton crops for conserving moisture. Farmers were advised to check the infestation of paddy by leafhoppers and hairy caterpillars by implementing feasible control measures. Considering the unfavorable monsoon, they were also advised to cultivate paddy in only a few areas that contained sufficient irrigation facilities.
Farmers were urged to irrigate vegetable and fruit crops at regular intervals. Those wanting to grow new orchards were advised to dig pits as per their requirements. They were also asked to to kill harmful insects and weeds and transplant fruit plants in the fields after good showers.
