Shruti Sachdeva, the 15-year-old girl who was "kidnapped" in Faridkot last month and taken to Goa, has refused to undergo a medical examination, the police said on Monday.
Punjab director general of police (DGP) Sumedh Singh Saini told reporters here that the minor declined medical examination by claiming that she was married to her alleged kidnapper.
"She did not agree for the medical examination at Goa, saying that she is married to Nishan Singh (who allegedly abducted her at gunpoint on September 24)," he said.
Nishan and Shruti, who were traced on Sunday, would be presented before a magistrate at Faridkot on Tuesday morning.
"We will again seek permission for her medical examination on Tuesday from the magistrate," he said.
"Strict action will be taken against the guilty as per law," he added.
He said Bathinda range IG (inspector general) NS Dhillon had met the girl's parents on Sunday after she was traced, but they allegedly expressed reluctance to accept their daughter.
"Whether the girl had gone voluntarily or forcibly, an offence has taken place and action will be taken against all accused," he said.
Fifteen of the 17 identified as accused in the case have been arrested so far. After the arrest of Nishan Singh, who is on transit remand till October 25, the police had arrested one Toofan Singh from Jagraon on Sunday night, he added.
The police is yet to arrest Nishan Singh's mother and one Dimpy Simmar.
