City-based lawyer and a candidate of Haryana Lokhit Party, Gurjit Singh Kaura is challenging Chautalas on their home turf Ellenabad and his main poll plank is that they kept the constituency undeveloped, intentionally.
“The constituency in Sirsa district, which got its name from Englishman’s wife, ironically has been one of the least developed parts of Haryana,” said Kaura who practices at the Punjab and Haryana high court in Chandigarh. “Why Ellenabad remained undeveloped despite being represented by one of the leading families of Haryana,” he questioned targeting at Abhay Chautala.
Kaura (45) alleged that Chautalas deliberately kept Ellenabad backward so that nobody could challenge their hegemony. “Forget Ellenabad, Chautalas have always put up illiterate candidates in Sirsa district due to which we have never had a voice in the Vidhan Sabha,” he pointed out.
“Ellenabad has only one college, roads are virtually non-existent, and there is no healthcare facility,” said Kaura speaking about the poor facilities in the constituency. The Haryana Lokhit Party candidate adds that he salutes country’s legal system, which has finally brought Chautalas to justice.
