Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday issued directions for setting up a single-window system to facilitate investment in the state by November 10. He proceeded to Mumbai for meeting chief executive officers (CEOs) of various industrial houses.
The deputy CM said the state-of-the-art single window would be set up at the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) office, from where all approvals and no-objection certificates (NOCs) would be given to industrial houses.
Sukhbir also informed that the single-window system (SWS) office would be headed by a CEO having full authority to grant all approvals and NOCs. He said the office would be equipped with modern software systems and would start operating by November 10.
He also asked the chief secretary to make easy the procedure for filing applications so that industrialists would have to file a self-attested single/two-page application, while the remaining proceedings should be completed by the CEO of the SWS. He said the CEO would get all requisite approvals and clearances from various departments, including Powercom, local bodies, industries, pollution control board etc.
The deputy CM will hold exclusive meetings with Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry at Bombay House to finalise investment proposals put forth by the latter during his Amritsar visit recently. He would also call upon chairman and MD, Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani; chairman, Mahindra & Mahindra, Anand Mahindra; chairman, Bajaj Auto, Rahul Bajaj; group chairman, Hinduja Group, Ashok P Hinduja; and chairman, Adlabs Entertainment, Manmohan Shetty, to attract new investment.
