The police on Monday booked six Punjab Police personnel, including the Barnala CIA incharge, for allegedly opening fire at a resident of a Bhawdin village in Sirsa district earlier in the day.

All the six are in police custody. The incident took place in the afternoon, when the six policemen reportedly called one Lakbir Singh on the Barnala road through an "agent" of the Punjab Police. It is alleged that on reaching the spot, the policemen pointed a gun at Lakhbir. He ran from the place and the police chased him.

On reaching the village, locals caught hold of the cops and took them to the Ding police station.

Deputy superintendent of police Satbir Sheoran also reached the police station. "We have registered a case against them. Investigations are on," he said.
