On the third consecutive day of this week, the Kalka Shatabdi Express continued to run behind schedule. On Wednesday as well, in spite of the clear weather in the city, the train’s arrival was delayed by four hours and the departure by two hours.
Due to the thick blanket of fog in the capital, eight trains ran behind schedule. The Unchahar Express — that runs between Allahabad and Chandigarh — chugged in 16 hours late at the city railway station.
The Lucknow-Chandigarh Express chugged in an hour and 15 minutes behind schedule. The Howrah- Kalka train continued to run late, and was delayed by 11 hours and 30 minutes.
The Sadbhavana Express, running between Chandigarh and Lucknow, was delayed by 17 hours. It departed from the station with a delay of around 5 hours and 20 minutes.
Air Travel Hit
Of the 15 flights operating in the city, only six took off as per schedule, with most having been cancelled in advance, in anticipation of low visibility due to the fog. Only two flights of GoAir; two flights of IndiGo and one each of Air India and AirAsia operated.
