The Android-based ‘Smart Chandigarh’ mobile application launched by the UT administration on January 26, which aims to serve as a single “e-window” to all information related to consumer awareness and citizen-centric services, will now have an added feature that will be introduced within a week. Through it residents can highlight shortcomings in cleanliness, sanitation, waterlogging, bad roads and other endemic problems in various city sectors.
Attention can also be drawn to issues concerning the municipal corporation which would be then taken up by the departments concerned. The administration is also working out modalities whereby residents can pay their water bills through the mobile app.
“We plan to introduce more services for users of the application. As of now one can get full details about the various services being offered by the administration. Till now over 5,000 residents have installed the application on their smartphones,” SDM (east) Danish Ashraf said.
The administration recently added three new citizen-centric features such as details on vehicle registration & licensing, first aid and an administration directory with a search facility. All driver’s licence and vehicle registration forms can also be downloaded on the app. Information about traffic signs, learners licence test results, available vehicle registration numbers and high security vehicle registration plates was made available earlier.
Details regarding the UT food & supplies and consumer affairs department can also be accessed in the ‘Citizens Corner’ link.
