When will the new international airport get operational?

We are getting it inaugurated on September 11. But actual operations will begin in around four weeks. I can’t specify any date for actual operations as of now.

What are the reasons for delay in actual operations?

Six airlines have to shift offices. The shops, Airport Authority of India office, CISF and fuel depot have to be shifted as well. It will take some time.

How many international flights will operate once it gets operational?

As of now, Spice and Indigo have got permission for operating flights to Dubai, but there is no intimation when they would start the operations.

There is an issue of increasing the watch hours of air traffic controller (ATC), which is in control of the air force. Will the watch hours be increased?

There is no change in the watch hours of ATC. They will remain the same.

Have you decided on the name of the airport?

It is beyond my prerogative.

What challenges are you facing?

There are no challenges. The work is going on in full swing. We have always been on development side.

After shifting of the operations to the SAS Nagar side, what will happen to the present building?

The present building will be used for operating smaller aircraft, the parking space will be used and building space will be put to meaningful use.
