SS Dhillon is Hooda’s new principal secretary

A 1984 batch IAS officer Sudeep Singh Dhillon was on Friday appointed to the coveted post of principal secretary to Haryana chief minister (PSCM). Dhillon replaces retired IAS officer, Chhatar Singh who has been picked for the post of member Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

A 1984 batch IAS officer Sudeep Singh Dhillon was on Friday appointed to the coveted post of principal secretary to Haryana chief minister (PSCM). Dhillon replaces retired IAS officer, Chhatar Singh who has been picked for the post of member Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).


Dhillon who was posted in the chief minister’s office (CMO) as additional PSCM in May 2013 was certain to take over as Hooda’s principal aide once the incumbent -temporarily employed retired IAS officer Chhatar Singh makes way.

The state government has also given a three month post retirement employment to 1980 batch IAS officer, Samir Mathur, currently posted as additional chief secretary, Home. Mathur has been appointed temporarily as Additional chief secretary, Home, a cadre post under section 9(1) (a) of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954 till November 30, 2013.

Meanwhile, Chhatar Singh who was also given a six month temporary employment (three months each twice) under the provisions of IAS Cadre Rules after he retired in March 2013 will take over as member UPSC sometime next month.

The CMO now has KK Khandelwal as Additional PSCM-I, Shiv Raman Gaur as additional PSCM-II, RS Doon as deputy PSCM, MS Chopra as principal OSD to CM and BR Beri as OSD to CM. Khandelwal who is also principal secretary, public relations has also been given the additional charge of Principal Secretary, Irrigation. The chief minister is also likely to induct an officer- IAS or HCS-- from the reserved category for the CMO after Chhatar Singh’s exit.
