SSP stable but not out of danger

The accident had claimed the life of Hindustan Times' Jalandhar-based principal correspondent Jasdeep Singh Malhotra.
In a press release, Dr Ashis Pathak, principal consultant neurosurgeon, Fortis Hospital, said the patient (Kalia) had been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with multiple injuries. "He has got injuries on the brain, base of the skull, chest, ribs and spine. He would need surgery once his condition stabilises. At present, he is stable but not out of danger."
Abhijit Singh, facility director, Fortis Hospital, said, "Our expert trauma team is continuously monitoring him. Owing to patient confidentiality, we can only say he will be taken for surgery as soon as his condition stabilises."
