St John’s-26 continue winning spree, enter U-11 final

The Team A of hosts St John’s High School, Sector 26, beat St Xavier’s School-44 4-3 in the tiebreaker to enter the under-11 age group final of the Br Meredith Football Tournament at St John’s High School ground in Sector 26, Chandigarh, on Sunday.

The second team of the hosts also registered easy win, drubbing Vivek High School, Sector 38, 6-0. Pranav Puri drew first blood for the winners in the second minute of the match. Five minutes later Shourya Chopra made it 2-0 in St John’s favour.

Devid then scored a brace in the 11th and the 15th minute to make it 4-0 in favour of St John’s. Keten put the matter beyond Vivek High School team’s reach with a strike in the 20th minute, and nine minutes later Shourya rounded off the winners tally and adding the second goal to his individual tally.

In the under-17 age group, Delhi Public School, Sector 40, defeated St Soldier School, Sector 28, 4-3 in tiebreaker in a keenly contested match.
In the under-14 age group, Ajit Karam Singh International Public School (AKSIPS), Sector 41, drubbed Tribune Model School 3-0.

Manav opened the scoring for the AKSIPS in the 12th minute. Gurjot then scored twice in the 15th and 25th minutes to round off the winners tally.

In another match, Delhi Public School edged past St Kabir School, Sector 26, 2-1. Arnav scored the first goal for the winners in the 11th minute and Dayakaran scored the second in the 35th minute. For St Kabir, Arjit reduced the margin in the 19th minute.

In the last match, St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, defeated St Soldier School, Sector 28, 4-3 in tiebreaker.
