Hosts St John’s High School won the boys’ under-12 age-group event of the Blessed Edmund Rice cricket tournament that concluded in Sector 26 on Wednesday.
In the final, St John’s defeated Ashiana Public School by six wickets. Batting first, Ashiana School were bundled out for 96 runs in 20 overs, with Anmol (21) top scoring for the side.
For St John’s School, Sikander was the pick of the bowlers. He took five wickets for 12 runs. He was ably supported by Rishit, who took three wickets for 15 runs. Chasing, St John’s achieved the target in 19 overs, making 100 for the loss of four wickets.
Shaurya led the winners’ charge with 28 runs, while Vasu scored 21 runs. Abhishek picked up two wickets for 15 runs for the losing side. Ishan also took two wickets for 23 runs.
With 12 wickets, Rihsit was adjudged the bowler of the tournament, while Shaurya was adjudged the best batsman for scoring 130 runs.
GNPs-36 lift U-17 title
In the under-17 final, Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS)-36, defeated DC Model School by 33 runs.
Batting first, GNPS scored 135 for 3 in 20 overs. Monar was the top scorer for the team with 66 runs off 55 balls. He was ably supported by Yuvraj, who made 40 runs off 52 balls. Ravi picked up one wicket for 27 runs for the DC Model team.
Chasing, DC Model were all out for 102 in 19 overs. Diyansh, with 17 runs, for the top scorer, while Shivam made 12 runs.
For winners GNPS, Arjun was the pick of the bowlers. He took four wickets for 15 runs. Yuvraj took two wickets for 11 runs. Arjun was adjudged the best bowler for taking a total of 14 wickets. The best batsman award went to Monar who scored 170 runs during the course of the tournament.
