Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said here on Tuesday that the state government was planning to announce a series of schemes on Women’s Day on March 8.
During his speech at the national thematic workshop on ‘Best Practices for Women and Child Development’, Khattar said his 85-day-old government was studying models of women’s welfare, adding that officials were preparing a layout. It would be ready soon and announced in March, he said.
Khattar said the poor child sex ratio was a serious issue and the state government was sensitive to it.
He said there was a move to expand welfare provisions of the Ladli scheme.
“Our government is also committed to fighting malnutrition and child marriage to ensure women’s empowerment in the true sense,” the CM added.
Lauding the role of the district and health authorities in improving the sex ratio in Jhajjar district, Khattar said the committed officials had motivated others.
