A three-day, state-level cultural festival and handicraft exhibition organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Punjab, began at a local youth hostel here on Monday.
A large number of youth from Nehru Yuva Kendras participated in the festival.
Rupnagar senior superintendent of police (headquarters) Parminder Singh Bhandal inaugurated the festival while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rupnagar district president Parvesh Goyal presided over the evening session.
They lauded the efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendra in organising the cultural festival.
District youth coordinator Surinder Saini said the festival was organised for the second time in Rupnagar.
On the first day of the festival, folk song and Shabad Gayan competitions were held.
In the folk song competition, Nawanshahr district bagged the first position while Muktsar came second, and Rupnagar and Ludhiana districts came third.
In the Shabad Gayan competition, Barnala, Rupnagar and Ludhiana districts bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.
